My family has been part of Seal Beach for over 40 years. Seal Beach was the perfect place to raise my son because it's a safe, secure, wholesome town that values family and volunteerism and has given us a safe haven. I am a mother of 3 and a grandmother to my 3 and 5-year-old grandsons. My younger son and I were blessed to be able to purchase the McNerney home on the Hill last year. Pat McNerney was a beloved member of St. Annes Church and loved Seal Beach... her paradise, like all of us do.
As an accountant with over 30 years of experience, I know the value of a dollar and how to ensure monies are properly prioritized to provide safety, well-maintained infrastructure, clean water, beaches, and clean public spaces. Fiscal oversight is critical to ensure that residents' goals and needs are met. I was also instrumental in successfully transitioning my employer’s company from private to public ownership, through an Initial Public Offering. This was a complex and arduous 6-year process where my work was subjected to the highest levels of financial, regulatory, and legal scrutiny. I saw it through to successful completion. I got the job done and I will get the job done for you!
As the past communications director for the Seal Beach Police Department volunteers, voted SBPD Volunteer of the Year, and a Neighbor 4 Neighbor Block Captain, the safety needs of this town take top priority. We need to pursue a regional approach to lower homelessness. With more police visibility as well as working with our surrounding cities, we can actively address crime threatening our small town. I am dedicated to maintaining a safe community where we are comfortable letting our children walk or ride to Old Town, spend the day at the beach, or simply be able to play in front of their home.
As a Leo student advisor, I know the importance of providing our young people with meaningful opportunities to serve others, bettering our town, and staying busy. We need recreational opportunities for young and old as it bonds us as a community while adding to our quality of life. Therefore, I will promote and foster recreation for all ages.
Both the Chamber of Commerce and the Seal Beach Police bestowed upon me their Volunteer of the year award. The Lions awarded me the Melvin Jones award for my service. In addition to these organizations, I also worked to help put on the community's favorite 4th of July celebration: Band on The Sand.
Serving on the Seal Beach City Council is a privilege, a privilege that is earned only by being in the trenches of community and public service and being part of our town's tragedies and triumphs. We lift each other up and have a special bond only Seal Beach residents have. We are Seal Beach, and we are Seal Beach strong.
Today we are at a crossroads. I pledge to keep our small town a safe place to live, work, play, raise our families, and keep our Seal Beach values for our future generations. I am of Seal Beach, and I am for Seal Beach.
Please vote for me, Lisa Landau, to represent you on our City Council.
